Riemann: the greatness of brevity

by time news

Bernhard Riemann was an exceptional mathematician. Despite his humble origins and poor health that led to his death at the age of 39 (1826-1866), he knew how to scale the highest peaks of mathematical knowledge. His work provided notable advances in geometry, complex analysis, and physics. In the mathematical apparatus developed by Riemann, Einstein found the ideal framework in which his physical ideas expressed in the General Theory of Relativity, released in 1915, fit perfectly. Riemann’s biography is included within a set of programs with which that we celebrate at CienciaEs.com the first centenary of the brilliant work of Einstein.
