For the first time, a person in South Tyrol tested positive for the “Omicron” variant. It is a woman from Merano, who returned to South Tyrol from South Africa at the end of November. As expected, she underwent a molecular swab both before departure – in Cape Town – but also upon arrival in Munich, both times with negative results. “This is a vaccinated person. He’s fine, complaining of mild symptoms like a cold. Surely for those who are the cases highlighted, the symptoms are defined as mild: severe colds, bone pain and cough. However, this is preliminary evidence. We must see how the diffusion in our situation – of vaccination coverage different from that of South Africa – behaves and for this we still have to wait ”.
