Will they be convinced of the need for action against Iran? The head of the Mossad and Gantz will fly to the United States

by time news

Defense Minister Bnei Gantz and Mossad chief David Barnea will fly to the United States this week, to persuade the local government to discuss approving military action against Iran, or at least increase sanctions against the country. The first to fly will be the head of the Mossad, who will be flying tonight (Sunday to Monday), with the defense minister flying on Thursday.

At the meetings, the head of the Mossad will try to persuade the United States to act in one of three ways: a military attack on Iran, the containment of covert Israeli action or at least, as mentioned, an increase in existing sanctions. A few days later Ganz will join an attempt to put pressure on the Biden administration, which has made it clear in the past that at this point it opposes any kind of military action.

Gantz and Barnea’s flight to the United States comes amid slow progress between Iran and the United States in the nuclear talks taking place in Vienna. During the talks, the US delegation and the European Union declared that Iran’s demands were extreme and accused it of violating all understandings reached in the previous round of talks leading up to its return to the 2015 agreement.

U.S. officials even claimed that both China and Russia were “seemingly out of Iran’s demands that all sanctions be lifted, not just on the nuclear issue,” which even the Obama administration has not agreed to, while Iran will preserve much of the nuclear progress it has made since 2019.
