BBVA increased financing to Catalan companies by 28% in 2022, as explained by the entity’s ‘country manager’ in Spain, Peio Belausteguigoitia, at the first meeting of 2023 of its Regional Advisory Council (CAR) in Catalonia.

The entity explained in a statement on Wednesday that during the past year more than 10,000 SMEs registered as new clients.

On the other hand, he pointed out that 29% of the long-term financing granted by BBVA to the Catalan business fabric in 2022 was of a sustainable nature.

Belausteguigoitia explained that “the commitment to sustainability is a great business opportunity for companies” and that the objective of the entity is to turn the opportunity into a reality.

This has been the first CAR held since the recent incorporation in December of Francisco Pla as BBVA Regional Director of Catalonia.
