New Delhi: US Deputy Secretary of State Donald Lu has said that India hopes to use its friendship with Russia to end the war in Ukraine.

Donald Lew spoke to reporters about the one-year anniversary of the war in Ukraine. Then, “India has a very long friendship with Russia. The two countries have a deep and longstanding friendship dating back to the Cold War. Hopefully, India will use its leverage with Russia to end the war in Ukraine.

Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar has already said that this war should be ended considering what is said in the UN Charter regarding the sovereignty of a country and its territorial integrity,” said Donald Lu.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will arrive in New Delhi on March 1 to participate in the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Conference in India. Pointing this out, reporters questioned whether US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, who is visiting India, would request India to try to end the war.

Responding to this, Donald Lu said, “India and Central Asian countries have a very long friendship with Russia. I don’t think that friendship can end anytime soon. But we can ask for a contribution to end the war under the UN Charter,” he said.
