Bengaluru-Mysuru National Highway: First phase toll collection from Tuesday

Bengaluru ∙ The first phase of toll collection on the Bengaluru-Mysuru national highway (NH-275), which has been developed into ten lanes, will begin at 8 am on Tuesday. Toll collection will begin on the 56-km stretch from Bengaluru’s Kumbalgod to Niddaghatta in Mandya. Toll booths are arranged in two places at Bidadi Kanaminike in Ramanagara district. Toll booths are installed at Bidadi Kanaminik for vehicles coming from Bengaluru to Mysore side and at Seshagirihalli for vehicles coming from Mysore side.

NHAI project director BT Sridhar said that the toll collection of 61 km Niddaghata-Mysuru, which is part of the second phase, will start after the inauguration. The toll booth in the second phase has been constructed in Shettyhalli, Srirangapatna. The National Highway, which will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 11, was developed at a cost of Rs 8,172 crore. The travel time to cover the distance of 118 km will be reduced to one hour and 10 minutes.

∙ Fare discount for vehicles in Ramanagara

Vehicles registered in Ramanagara district, where the toll plaza is located, will get a discount. The round trip fare is Rs 70 for cars, jeeps and vans, Rs 110 for light commercial vehicles and Rs 230 for buses and lorries.

∙ 11 gates at toll plaza

Each toll plaza has 11 gates equipped with FASTag system to allow vehicles to pass through. On upgraded national highways on BOT basis, the toll charge is Rs 1.5 to Rs 2 per km. The toll is determined based on the length of the road, bridges and underpasses. 9 big bridges, 42 small bridges, 64 underpasses, 11 flyovers and 5 bypasses have been newly constructed on the 118 km Bengaluru-Mysuru National Highway.
