Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called the latest statements by the Ukrainian authorities as multidirectional “streams of consciousness”. In his opinion, Ukrainian officials change their position several times a day.
As Mr. Lavrov said at a press conference, in the Ukrainian leadership “there are as many people as there are opinions, and each of them can change his opinion.” As an example, he cited a recent statement by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Aleksey Reznikov. “Yesterday, in my opinion, he said that Ukraine should invite or has already invited the British, Canadians and Americans to the front line in Donbass. Two hours later, he said that he would not be invited – apparently, his senior comrades explained to him that he had already gone completely overboard, ”said the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry (quoted by RIA Novosti).
According to him, the Ukrainian authorities “have more than one stream of consciousness, there are streams of consciousness that are multidirectional.”
On December 5, in an interview with the Canadian publication The Globe and Mail, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine proposed to send 500 military instructors from Canada to the country (now there are 200 Canadian soldiers in Ukraine). Mr. Reznikov also said that Canada, the United States and Great Britain “must jointly and promptly provide military support to Ukraine in its confrontation with Russia.” On December 6, in an interview with CNN, the Ukrainian minister said that Kiev needed to modernize its weapons, but it “does not need American or Canadian soldiers to fight for Ukraine.”
Western media reported that, according to US intelligence services, Russia was planning an invasion of Ukraine. The US expects the offensive to begin in early 2022.
