Ad interim PAHO/WHO representative visits Public Health

The Ministry of Health in Suriname has had an introductory visit from the ad interim PAHO/WHO representative in Suriname, Dr. Lilian Reneau-Vernon. The meeting took place on Tuesday, February 28 at the office of Minister Amar Ramadhin.

During the visit, Ramadhin gave a short introduction about the cooperation between PAHO and the Surinamese ministry in recent years. Dr. Karen Lewis-Bell has fulfilled the role of PAHO representative in a dignified manner during the past period. She has been the representative in Belize since February 2023.

The minister has discussed the plans for the health sector with the new representative. Dr. Lilian Reneau-Vernon is committed to continuing the existing areas of cooperation and propagating new forms of cooperation.

Also present during this visit were the Director of Public Health Drs. Rakesh Gajadhar Sukul and the Director of the Healthcare Recovery Plan. Dr. Marc Sprenger.
