At just 21 years old, the singer from Barcelona Juliet has become one of the new sensations of Catalan music, thanks to its attractive fusion of pop with electronic rhythms. In 2020, he jumped into the pool with his own first simple –And it’s normal to always miss you i nayades– and in 2021 saw the light of his first EP, Dump. In 2022 the artist, who this spring will publish his first full-length, took out Neither light nor moon (Music Bus Records), an eight-track mini-album that won him the prize a Best disc revelation from the specialist critic. The singer and composer, who also s‘has trained in theater and dancehas been nominated in the categories, by popular vote, of Best New Artist i Best Original Song Album.
“Really I did not expect to receive an award so soon, because it’s true that it’s a breakthrough album, but I haven’t been in the industry that long either, and these first albums have been more of a learning experience than anything else,” explains Julieta about the recognition the critics have given her. “I was very surprised even though now, with perspective, I do appreciate that I worked hard, with a lot of energy” he adds, to admit that, musically, his proposal “has very interesting things”.
Having received a critic’s award and the two nominations, are for Julieta “a recognition” that will mean a push for his career. “In the end, when you start making music, you’re creating, but for people to understand you as an artist and delve into your imagination and concept, it’s something that takes longer to achieve. Once people already know you and understand your proposal, everything is easier».
And because of this young woman from Barcelona, there is a new generation in Catalonia able to break with clichés and bet on new sounds. “I always say that one of the objectives of my project is to give a push to this new generation of artists and to contribute new things. My generation has an open vision, we don’t lock ourselves in a specific genre and we’re creating a scene ready to break barriers».
In addition to performing during the Enderrock awards ceremony, Julieta has already booked a handful of performances this summer. Among them, the singer and composer from Barcelona will perform next July 30 in Roses, as part of the Sons del Món festival , next to the Stay Homas.
