Protests are reactivated in communities in Peru

by time news

This Monday the protests were reactivated in the Peruvian provinces of Canchis and Espinar, in the department of Cusco, to demand the resignation of the president appointed by Congress, Dina Boluarte.

Similarly, it is expected that in the capital, Lima, a new day of protests will begin.

For example, in Canchis the Arturo bridge woke up covered with mounds of earth and stones, while the path from Cusco to Puno and Arequipa is obstructed, reports TeleSur.

The Provincial Fight Committee of Espinar Cusco and its different social organizations reached an agreement to restart the strike starting this Monday against the Boluarte regime.

For their part, leaders from the regions of Puno, Arequipa, Moquegua, Apurimac, Cusco, Madre de Dios and Ayacucho participated in Apurímac.

At the beginning of March, residents of Puno and other places in Peru mobilized to demand the resignation of the designated president Dina Boluarte, as part of the protests that have been taking place for weeks in the Andean country.

The marches and rallies occurred amid police repression and the concern of various international entities over the disproportionate use of force, which has caused dozens of deaths since the first protests last December.

Boluarte declared as an enemy of the people

On the other hand, leaders of the Popular Organizations Fronts of Puno declared President Dina Boluarte as an enemy of the people.

This, after the murder of 21 Peruvians in the area was recorded.

In the same way, they maintain the protests demanding his resignation.

Over the weekend, from Puno, the fire at the Juli Police Station was reported, after the violent repression by members of the Peruvian Army against residents who demanded the resignation of Dina Boluarte.

As will be remembered, the demonstrations against Boluarte began last December, after the dismissal and subsequent arrest of Pedro Castillo.

The Peruvian Attorney General’s Office reported last Friday that it summoned the head of the interim for the cases of those who died due to police repression of the protests that demanded her resign.

The Public Ministry of Peru began the investigation against Boluarte in January, for the deaths registered until then during the protest in the country, since last December, after the dismissal and subsequent arrest of Castillo.

Likewise, last Tuesday, the Peruvian Prosecutor’s Office requested a 36-month prison sentence against Pedro Castillo for alleged acts of corruption, while he was serving as President of the Nation.

This investigation by the Public Ministry became official after Congress approved on February 17 the final report of a constitutional complaint against the former president, a necessary previous step.

UN calls for an end to violence in Peru

A group of United Nations (UN) experts, for its part, called for an end to the violence in Peru, expressed concern about reports of repression, arbitrary killings, arrests and detentions in the country, and urged the Peruvian authorities to “establish a genuine dialogue with the people”.

“In any democratic society people have the right to protest and raise their concerns about political changes that affect their lives and livelihoods,” the experts said, from Geneva.
