The news that the data of 6 lakh customers of HDFC Bank, one of India’s leading private banks, has been hacked by hackers has caused a great shock among the customers.
There were reports on social media that the personal information of around six lakh customers of HDFC Bank was leaked on the websites and the information was advertised for sale. Following this, the bank has clarified that no customer information has been leaked.
Customers have expressed their apprehension on social media that HDFC Bank’s customer details have been published on the website and the data appears to be genuine. But HDFC Bank has said that no data has been leaked from their bank, none of our systems have been hacked and all customer data in their bank is safe.
It explains that we are very confident in our systems and we are serious about the security of our customers’ data and we are constantly working to protect the data.
But the information including full names, email addresses, mobile numbers and sensitive data of HDFC Bank customers is said to be on the hacked website of cyber criminals. The website is said to have data from March 2022 to March 2023. But it is noteworthy that the bank management has firmly denied this.
In this situation, the mobile operation of HDFC Bank suddenly stopped working and transactions failed on March 6. Customers are questioning on their Twitter whether this is related to the data leak news. Bank customers have also commented that the bank’s text messages are increasing as spam in recent times.
