On the third day of the Ahmedabad Test today, Subman Gill looked plumb to buy a ball at the leg. But, field umpire Kettlebrough called ‘not out’. Australia Review asked. After that all the confusion happened.

The review was not in Australia’s favor and they lost a review. The incident happened in the 18th over. Shubman Gill got down to a ball that was pitched outside off stump by Nathan Lyon and was bought by the Audi callback. Bat was close by so it looked like a battle.

But to listen to Australia’s review, it was revealed that the ball was hit first at the call-cap. Subman Gill made a stroke after reaching the mandatory 3m distance before the LB judge. So the TRS is over there. The TV umpire, who should have called it not out, asked the ball tracking to see if the ball would hit the stumps, leaving many confused.

The DRS review should have ended there if Subman Gill came down three meters and took it on leg. But the umpire caused confusion by asking for ball tracking. The ball hits the stumps. But when Subman hit Gillin’s pad it pointed outside the off-stump.

He comes down and swings but not out, the ball hits Subman’s kill pad just outside the off stump. So not out in this category as well. But the Australian team asked the umpire for an explanation.

“How did you ask for not out when the ball hits the stumps?” Nathan Lyon asked with a smile. Smith also understood the argument. The umpire thought it would go outside the leg stump and called it not out. Rogit also said something for his part. These argumentative debates caused confusion.

Rohit Sharma then goes for a back foot punch which is caught by Labusche at straight shot cover. Earlier, Rohit Sharma lofted a short pitch from Mitchell Starc to the square leg boundary for a six. Rohit was dismissed for 35 runs with 3 fours and 1 six.
