AvtoVAZ and UAZ again began to equip the ABS system

by time news

The UAZ car manufacturer has again begun equipping the Patriot, Pickup and Profi models with an anti-lock braking system (ABS). This was reported to Izvestiya by the press service of the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant.

Now UAZ “Patriot” can be bought in two trim levels – “Base Icarus” and “Base Icarus package Limited”. According to the newspaper, the automaker has changed the supplier of anti-lock brakes. Instead of the German Bosch, the plant now buys electronic components from the Chinese AGP. The press service of the plant clarified that soon the anti-lock braking system will again be available for SGR (“loaf”) cars.

Earlier, AvtoVAZ also began to produce Lada Vesta NG with anti-lock brakes from a “partner from a friendly country,” Izvestia writes. It is specified that so far this is the only model of the automaker with ABS. In addition, the company plans to equip the car with a 16-valve power unit, climate control and automatic transmission. The last one is expected to be delivered in 2024.

In May 2022, the government of the Russian Federation allowed the production of cars with lower environmental and safety standards, in particular, manufacturers were exempted from the requirement to equip cars with ABS, airbags and dynamic stabilization system (ESP). The resolution was valid until February 1, 2023, and after that it was extended until June 1.

At the end of February, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov, announced that ABS was again planned to be made a mandatory requirement for the production of cars before the end of this year.
