Actors need adequate rest; Igor Stimac criticized domestic competition

Delhi: National football team coach Igor Stimac criticized the domestic competition system in India. Stimac said that having to compete without getting enough rest is affecting the performance of the players. Players need six to eight weeks of rest after the season. In the current scenario, injuries are a recurring theme for players due to the intensity of competition. The coach also asked to change the schedule of the competition so that he gets at least one month in the camp before the Asia Cup.

In the tri-nation tournament, India will face Myanmar the next day and Kyrgyzstan on the 28th. The Indian football team will enter the tri-nation tournament soon after the Indian Super League ninth season ends. The 23-member Indian squad consists of five newcomers. When the team was announced on the basis of ISL performance, veteran Sunil Chhetri was included in the team. A five-day camp has been arranged for the players in Kolkata before heading to Imphal for the matches.
