Ahead of the election, Myanmar’s ruling junta disbanded Suu Kyi’s National Democratic League party.
After nearly two years of a coup, Myanmar’s election commission, appointed by the military regime, has announced the dissolution of ousted leader Aung San Suu Kyi’s party.
A total of 40 political parties, including Suu Kyi’s party, were dissolved, increasing the chances of the military-backed Union Solidarity and Development Party winning the election.
