Renopool will have 350,000 bifacial photovoltaic modules and will produce around 400 GWh per year.

In Badajoz, Ferrovial will invest more than 100 million euros to build a 200 MW maximum power photovoltaic solar plant that will generate 500 direct and indirect jobs.

This “turnkey” project, called Renopool, will be developed by the company through the Energy Solutions area of the Construction division.

The works include the engineering, construction and commissioning of the plant, as well as its operation and maintenance during the first two years. The works will be completed in 14 months.

With its estimated annual output of 400 gigawatt hours (GWh) and 350,000 bifacial photovoltaic modules, Renopool will have enough power to power 118,100 homes each year.

Ferrovial has implemented the Energy Solutions area within its Construction division in accordance with its Horizon 24 plan, which is committed to developing complementary businesses to its activity. This area will be crucial to the company’s ESG strategy, which will focus on the fight against climate change and decarbonization.

Renopool will join other company projects in the renewable energy generation sector, such as the ‘turnkey’ construction of the El Berrocal photovoltaic solar plant in Seville (Spain) or the construction of the Cabo Leones wind farm (Chile ), which is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by 65,920 metric tons per year.

Ferrovial is also driving the growth of offshore wind power in line with Spain’s roadmap to become a major player in the European floating wind power market, with the goal of reaching a capacity of 3 GW by 2030.

So far, the company has shown interest in five wind farms with a combined installed capacity of 2,250 MW. Specifically, the company plans to build these infrastructures between 11 and 30 kilometers from the coast in Lugo, Pontevedra, Gerona, Malaga and Gran Canaria.
