The largest gemstone in the world has been found in Sri Lanka. Found in Ratnapura, the gem weighs 310 kg. It has been dubbed the Queen of Asia. Department officials examined samples of the stone.
On that basis, it has been confirmed to be the largest sapphire in the world. This is a very rare type of stone and gemologists say that no such gemstone has been found anywhere in the world.
