Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) — According to the Saudi Ministry of Health, e-cigarettes contain many toxic substances, carcinogenic chemicals, and flavors linked to lung diseases when used.

Electronic cigarettes work by evaporating a solution containing nicotine and other substances, and do not contain tobacco leaves as is the case in regular cigarettes.

These include nicotine, which is toxic and highly addictive and has an effect on the functioning of the body, in addition to chemicals that increase the risk of cancer. E-cigarettes also contain heavy metals and flavors such as diacetyl, which can cause lung disease in the smoker.
