ABefore the arrival of the rainy season, with the risk mitigation plan carried out by the Maturín Mayor’s Office, the head of the capital’s City Council, Ana Fuentes, hopes to attend and clean 20 pipes with manual sessions and another 40 pipes in a mechanized way.

This was stated by the president of the Maturín Municipal Autonomous Institute for the Environment (Iamam), Lauribet Navas, during her participation in the multiplatform program “Conectados con Ernesto”, number 28 broadcast from the Boquerón de Las Piñas sector and moderated by the governor Ernest Moon.

In this sense, the official explained that the work intensified on April 10, but that they had their first actions at the beginning of this year.

“On April 10 of this year, we deployed to carry out the sanitation based on the technical survey carried out by the Municipality’s Civil Protection and Disaster Administration team, addressing those sites and pipes that were attended to last year and those that remained pending,” he said.

In the same way, he said that they will apply the technique of manual treatment until August 30 for an accumulation of 139 jobs that will translate into 19 weeks of slaughter.

Orinoco Pipe

Navas pointed out that the Caño Orinoco, because it is one of the most emblematic of the capital city, was one of the first to be approached, for which they have achieved the cleaning of 1.5 kilometers, removing about 120 cubic meters of sediment manually. Likewise, the president of the Iamam said that in this first phase they will extend the work to nine other wastewater channels.

“During the month of April, the pipes that will be intervened in the municipality are the following: Libertador avenue (takes a workshop), José Tadeo Monagas (service station), Universidad alley, Ciudad Colonial, Doña Menca (1st street), 3rd street in Prado del Este, Paramaconi 4 (treatment plant), Virgen Del Carmen (Sabana Grande), Juanico, Reina Paulina, La Ceiba, La Democracia, La Manga (rubber), La Llovizna, Las Brisas (vereda 4), Las Gladiolas ( Calle 1 and Carrera 15b), Los Almendrones, Los Cocos and Los Guaros (Calle 11b).
