At the Moscow Film Festival, actress Irina Kupchenko received a special prize “I Believe. Konstantin Stanislavsky”.
“Ira is not always recognized on the street, but this allows her to be absolutely anyone. Plus, she never cheats on herself as a person,” said Nikita Mikhalkov, presenting the award.
The presentation was somewhat delayed, as Irina Petrovna on stage remembered a lot of interesting things from her life
“The award has such a loud wording that it causes mixed feelings: megalomania with an inferiority complex. Because others may be mistaken, but I know that in a professional sense I am nothing but the fruit of the efforts of a huge number of people: writers, directors, whose ideas I try to realize with more or less success, partners whom I adore.
I am grateful to God for giving me the opportunity to meet with outstanding artists in my work. I really worked with brilliant people,” said the artist.
Kupchenko recalled the very beginning of her career: “The fact is that all the time I studied at the Shchukin School, I was filming, so the educational process passed by, and when I had to show at the Vakhtangov Theater, I had one excerpt worse than the other. And they wanted to take me to the Vakhtangov Theater, because … Well, it doesn’t matter, – Kupchenko broke off. – But they put a Chekhov passage on me, and they took me.
Finally, the actress spoke about the difficulties of the profession: “I got such roles – but we did not choose them – in which it was necessary to make the viewer see the invisible and believe in the non-existent.”
