Mumbai: KL Rahul has been appointed as the vice-captain of the Test team for the Indian team’s tour of South Africa starting next week. It is also the return of Rahul, who missed the series against New Zealand due to injury. KL Rahul has been appointed vice-captain of the BCCI following the withdrawal of vice-captain Rohit Sharma from the Test series due to a hand injury sustained during training in Mumbai.
Earlier, it was rumored that Rahul would take over as vice-captain, but there was no official confirmation. Today, the BCCI itself confirmed the news and tweeted.

KL Rahul was the vice-captain of the ODI and T20 teams on the previous tour of Australia. Rohit Sharma was appointed vice-captain following the withdrawal of Rohit Sharma from the tour due to injury. Rahul is also likely to be the vice-captain of the ODI T20 teams on the tour of South Africa.
