An old man named Monir Hossain Manu (65) was killed by lightning while harvesting paddy in Kaliganj of Gazipur. At least 5 people including a student were injured in this incident.

Earlier, the incident took place in the field adjacent to Siddique Khandkar’s house in Chhatiani Paschimpara village of Jangalia Union of the upazila around 6 pm.
The deceased old Manu is the son of Badsha Ali of Madhyauria village of Phulchari upazila of Gaibandha district. He was working as a laborer harvesting paddy. The injured are Ershad Ali (27), son of Hakim Uddin of the same upazila, Golap (55), son of Bahauddin, Lal Mia (45), son of Mir Baksh, Sayeda (50), son of Jabed Ali and Shakila Khandkar, daughter of Shahidullah Khandkar of Chatiani village of Kaliganj upazila of Gazipur district. 23). He is a 3rd year student of English Department of Dhaka Eden College.
SI Kamal Hossain said, after receiving the news, I quickly went to the spot and recovered the body. Later, the body was handed over to the relatives without post-mortem following the request of the family members of the deceased.
