About 5 years ago, Mariam Camara was returning from the market when she fell at the entrance to her home in the Matoto district. She escapes with a fracture of her right foot. Months have passed. Mariam can no longer recover from her injury, due to a lack of financial means. She is forced to have her foot amputated, to limit the harm and avoid cancer. Disabled, she is cloistered in her home and cannot carry out any income-generating activity.

Mother of two children, Mariam Camara will engage in a media campaign to implore help. During Ramadan last April, she was received on a television program by our colleagues at Evasion TV. She wishes to benefit from a prosthetic foot to facilitate her mobility. His appeal falls on good ears. The humanitarian NGO, African Women & Children Care (AWCC), created on February 28 in the United States by three Guineans (Fatoumata Galé Bah, Marie Marguerite and Georges Léonard Sagno) decided to come to the aid of Mariam Camara and offer her comfort. She moved with the help of two canes. Monday 1is May 2023, she receives the donation from AWCC, cash valued at 5 million Guinean francs. Accompanied by her husband, Mariam Camara received the money in a dark ceremony at the group’s compound Escape-Guinea in Conakry.

Save lives

Representative of WACC in Guinea, Abraham Kayoko Doré declares that the NGO aims to bring aid to women and children in Africa. “It is an element of the report that drew our attention to the very difficult situation of this lady. The founders of the NGO being very sensitive, immediately decided to act, to help him with this sum. It is true that it is not the orthopedic prosthesis that she wants so much, but the donors believe that it is a good start to cheer her up. »

Visibly moved by the gesture, Mariam Camara was very grateful. She made prayers and blessings, before adding: “What I can say to this NGO, how happy I am. And there is only one word to express how I feel, so I tell him, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Abraham Kayoko Doré reports that this is the first activity carried out by AWCC since its creation last February. “It’s a first, but we don’t intend to stop there. We are in the humanitarian field, we will continue our activities, identify vulnerable people who live in extreme precariousness, such as the case of Mariam Camara, to make donations”. AWCC intends to intervene in other areas, including the education of children and providing health assistance to the needy.
