Tendulkar thanked Mumbai Traffic Constable Suresh Dhumse
Mumbai: Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar’s tweet praising the Mumbai Traffic Police for taking his friend to hospital after he was injured in a car accident has received a lot of attention. The accident happened on November 30. In a congratulatory note, Tendulkar said that the world is so beautiful because there are such people.
Tendulkar’s tweet on December 17 was shared by Mumbai police yesterday. “A few days ago, a close friend had a serious accident. With God’s blessing, they are now well. The rescue operation was carried out by a traffic officer who arrived on time. The injured man was rushed to hospital without further injuries. There are a lot of people like him who go overseas, ”Tendulkar tweeted.
The incident took place on November 30 at around 5pm opposite the police station in Santa Cruz. The injured Nirupama Chavan was traveling in a rickshaw. A large vehicle crashed into a pole near their rickshaw. In the shock, the pillar fell on top of the car. Anupama was seriously injured. The pillar was removed by a group of people. Traffic Constable Suresh Dhumse rushed them to Nanavati Hospital in a rickshaw.
“I grabbed their purse and mobile and sat in the passenger leg space. I asked the driver to drive slowly as there were only minutes to get to the hospital. The young woman was in pain after suffering a spinal cord injury. To comfort them I sat in one corner of the seat and placed their head on my lap. When her husband called her on the phone, she was told that Nanavati was being taken to hospital. Her husband called me a few days ago. He said the surgery lasted seven hours that day. He thanked me that they could walk now. I was happy to hear that, ”Dhumse told the Indian Express.
On December 2, Sachin met Dhumse and thanked him directly. “I am very happy to see Tendulkar. He took my hand and thanked me. I grew up watching his game from a young age. I could not speak with joy when I saw it in person. I did not tell anyone about what happened that day. Because I was just doing my duty and someone in my position would do it, ”Dhumse added.
