The Londoners sign the Argentinian coach for a campaign as a replacement for Lampard
Chelsea, after more than 600 million invested in transfers and three different coaches (Tuchel, Potter and Lampard), reaped one of the worst seasons in its history in the Premier League, with its lowest score (44) and with the difference of most bloody goals (-9). On top of that, he failed to qualify for European competition. After the earthquake, Londoners have announced this Monday to Mauricio Pochettino as a new coach, signed for a season and an optional one.
The Argentine coach had been without a team since he was fired by PSG last summer, and since then he had been linked to numerous teams, especially in Spain and England. The former Espanyol player returns to the islands, where he has always had a good poster after passing through Southampton (13-14) and Tottenham, where he spent four and a half seasons. With those from the north of the English capital, he even reached the Champions League final in 2020, where they were defeated by Liverpool.
It was not until his signing for PSG in January 2021 that he managed to release his record. With the Parisians he won a league, a cup and a super cup, but you tripped over him in the Champions League they ended up leading him to the exit door of the project. After a sabbatical year, Murphy’s embarks on a project as exciting as it is tricky.

Exciting because Chelsea has brought together an authentic team based on checkbooks, bringing together players of the stature of Enzo Pérez, Raheem Sterling or Kalidou Koulibaly. A group to which, however, none of its three teachers last season managed to imprint any soul. And tricky because the current owner Todd Boehly has shown that he is a hurricane in the offices, without tremors when it comes to hiring and firing his employees.
