Several Russian radio stations, victims of a “cyberattack”, broadcast this Monday (5) a fake speech by the president Vladimir Putin denouncing a Ukrainian “invasion” and announcing the establishment of martial law in the border regions with Ukraineinformed the Russian authorities.

A speech according to which “Ukrainian forces, armed to the teeth (…) and supported by Washington, invaded the regions of Kursk, Belgorod and Briansk” was broadcast this Monday by several radio stations in those border territories with Ukraine. Ukraine, officials said.

The message, attributed to Putin and circulating on social media, also announced martial law in the regions, the signing of a presidential decree of general mobilization in Russia and urged the inhabitants to withdraw from these places.

“It was really a cyberattack. We are aware of that,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov told Russian news agencies, assuring that the radio stations in question had regained control of the frequencies.

“Information about the invasion of Ukrainian forces in the Belgorod region, the establishment of martial law, general mobilization and evacuation … is false,” Belgorod region officials said.

“The purpose of this message is to sow panic among residents,” said the crisis unit installed by the authorities on Telegram, urging them to “remain calm” and trust only “reliable” sources of information.

In the region of Voronezh, also on the border with Ukraine and where there was also interference in some radios, the authorities assured the inhabitants that “there was no cause for concern”.

“The situation in the region is under the control of the authorities and security forces,” they said on Telegram.

MIR, one of the radios affected, lost control of its frequencies for about 40 minutes. He described as “false” and “provocative” everything that was released at that time.

For two weeks now, the Russian region of Belgorod, on the border with Ukraine, has been the scene of attacks, bombings and fighting between the Russian army and Russian pro-Ukrainian fighters.

In February, something similar happened: false anti-aircraft alerts were broadcast by several Russian radio and television stations, victims of a cyberattack.
