New Delhi: Former India opener Aakash Chopra has said that India’s chances of winning the Test series against South Africa are slim. In a video shared on a YouTube channel, Chopra commented on India’s tour of South Africa.

‘I do not see the possibility of India winning this series. The situation in South Africa is very difficult. I would have said that South Africa would have won the series 2–1 if Antrich Nortia had been on the team. The series could have ended in a 1–1 draw if Nortia had not played. A match is likely to end in a draw. The first test is threatened by rain. South Africa has a 51 per cent chance and India a 49 per cent chance in the series. If any team wins, it will be South Africa ‘- Chopra said.

India have won just three Tests on South African soil so far. India’s best performance so far has been to draw the 2010–11 series.

The first match of the 2021–22 India-South Africa Test series starts at Centurion on Sunday. If he wins the series, Virat Kohli will become the first Indian captain to win a Test series on South African soil.
