Ibercamera is programming more symphonies than ever for the next season

The debut at the Girona Auditorium of the National Orchestra of Lyon, accompanied by the prestigious violinist Pinchas Zukerman, will open the Ibercamera season with more symphony orchestras in its history. The classical music cycle will offer nine concerts between the months of November and May, with a prominent commitment to the symphonic format, with orchestras such as the Düsseldorf Symphony or the prestigious SWR Stuttgart Symphony, which will premiere at the Auditorium directed by Andrés Orozco-Estrada, one of the most internationally recognized conductors. As usual, however, Ibercamera will also feature some of the great names in classical music, such as Zukerman himself, guitarist Ana Vidovic or Alexandre Kantorow, the new international sensation in piano playing.

With the motto “More symphonic than ever”the seventeenth season of Ibercamera Girona will offer one more concert than last year, with five symphonic formations as the most relevant element. “Four years ago it was unimaginable to bring such a proposal, but it is our way of expressing our gratitude to the Girona music fans, with whom we have made our way together for place Girona on the international symphonic circuit», assures the director of Ibercamera, Josep Maria Prat.

Ibercamera celebrates its fifteenth anniversary

The season will start on November 19, with the premiere of the National Orchestra of Lyon in front of the Girona public. It will be conducted by its principal teacher, Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider, and accompanied by Zukerman, who will perform Elgar’s Violin Concerto for the first time in Girona.

January 21 will be the turn of the Hungarian National Philharmonicwhich will return to the city under the baton of Jordi Francés to offer the Aranjuez’s concert with guitarist Ana Vidovic.

The 12th of February is scheduled Consecration of spring d’Stravinsky i la Pastoral by Beethoven with the renowned conductor Andrés Orozco-Estrada conducting the SWR Stuttgart Symphony Orchestra.

Mahler’s fifth will be played on March 17 at the Girona Auditorium by the Düsselforf Symphony Orchestra led by Ádám Fischerwhile the soprano Anna Lucia Richter will perform on April 14 the leadeder of Mahler and Brahms with the musical accompaniment of the Schumann Quartet.

On May 25, double debut at Ibercamera Girona: the pianist Alexandre Kantorow will make his debut with the National Orchestra of France conducted by Cristian Macelaruquite an “event”, assures Prat, because the training is at an “excellent” level.

As for the chamber cycle, after dedicating it entirely to the pianist Varvara last season, this year the pianist Ignasi Cambra is scheduled (January 28); leader of the Cosmos Quartet, Helena Satué, with a program for solo violin (April 21) and the Gerhard Quartet (May 12).

More than 650 subscribers

Currently, Ibercamera has 676 subscribers in Girona, some of whom are Frenchwhich this season will have a wink with the presence, for the first time, of two Welsh formations.

Since 2008, Ibercamera has programmed 130 concerts in Girona, with around 6,500 musicians on stage and nearly 63,200 tickets sold. It has also allocated around 1,500 places to young people and social actions.
