He is “looking forward to the Premier League challenge as the next step in my career,” said Karius. The 22-year-old has played for Rheinhessen since January 2012 and made 101 Bundesliga appearances. Karius will wear the number 1 at Liverpool. “I’m thrilled that we were able to sign Loris. He had a fantastic season with Mainz,” said Reds coach Klopp. Liverpool’s regular keeper Simon Mignolet from Belgium had just extended his contract with Liverpool until 2021 this year.
