It is striking that two races will not be held on Sunday as usual, but on Saturday. The Bahrain Grand Prix (March 2) and the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix (March 9) have been moved forward a day because of Ramadan. It’s the first two races of the season.

The Chinese Grand Prix returns to the schedule and the race in Azerbaijan moves from April to September. The race in Japan then moves from autumn to spring. Qatar will be the penultimate race next season, followed by the final grand prix in Abu Dhabi (December 8). Through the regional changes, Formula 1 hopes to reduce the logistics burden and make the season more sustainable.

In Belgium, driving takes place on July 28. Also this year Spa-Francorchamps falls on the last weekend of July. “I am pleased with the confidence that Formula 1 has shown in us,” said Melchior Wathelet, president of the Spa Grand Prix. “This result is the result of the long-term work of many, including of course the teams of Spa Grand Prix and the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps,” Wathelet said in a statement. “Another page in Formula 1 will be written in 2024, to the delight of fans.”

Vanessa Maes, CEO of the Spa Grand Prix, is also delighted. “By signing this contract, Spa Grand Prix demonstrates its ability to evolve in line with the new expectations of Formula 1 and its fans. Sport and spectacle are more than ever part of our DNA and we will continue to offer the public a complete experience, both on and off the track.”
