Alba Silva, wife of Paris Saint Germain (PSG) goalkeeper Sergio Rico, who was injured when he was participating in the Virgen del Rocío (Huelva) pilgrimage last May, has announced that his medical situation has improved.

Silva has affirmed that “yesterday afternoon-night they have already passed him to the plant, thank God, and we can be with him 24 hours and we are very happy”, according to the agency. Europa Press.

Thus, the goalkeeper of the team from the French capital leaves the Intensive Care Unit where he was admitted to the Virgen del Rocío Hospital in Seville after suffering an accident on horseback.

According to the family, the incident happened while the goalkeeper “was heading to the Pontifical Mass next to the hermitage when he suffered a misfortune because of a cart with mules and a runaway horse that hit him.”

According to the police report, a horse kicked the athlete in the head, causing head trauma and a stroke.

The footballer was in a coma for 25 days until June 19, at which time his condition began to improve, which has led the doctors to transfer him to the plant, considering that his life is out of danger.

Sergio Rico has been a PSG player since September 2019, where he arrived after serving at Sevilla FC and at English Fulham. Already as a member of the Parisian club, he was loaned to Mallorca for half a season, until the summer of 2022.
