The streaming service Netflix from March 2022 will have to show 20 federal Russian channels. This was announced in an interview with TASS by the head of the Internet Video Association Alexei Byrdin. Netflix will also have to create a Russian legal entity within two months, 80% of which will be controlled by the company’s Russian partners.
New rules for Netflix will appear due to the inclusion of the platform in the register of audiovisual services. It was created by Roskomnadzor in December 2020 with the aim of monitoring prohibited content in online cinemas. In May 2021, the Internet Video Association (integrating video services ivi, Okko, Megogo, Amediateka, Start, etc.) asked Roskomnadzor to check Netflix and include it in the register of audiovisual services.
