the state police Oregonin the United States, is looking for a suspected of making a shooting in a hospital in downtown Portland that has so far left only one person injured.
Agents have reported that they have responded with a Crisis Response Team to the Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center in the northwest area of the city after being informed that a person was found with a weapon inside the facilitiesas reported in a press conference by Sergeant Kevin Allen and has picked up CNN.
“They told us that shots had been fired at the hospital,” Allen said, explaining that a witness informed them that the alleged shooter had already left the hospital when the police arrived.
Police have evacuated and searched a nearby grocery store, but have not located the suspect. “This is still considered an active tactical incident. Efforts are underway to locate the suspect.” Allen warned, adding that the authorities “no longer believe there is any potential danger in the hospital.”
However, he explained that the hospital will remain closed while officers investigate and that officers from all over the city are contributing to the search for the alleged shooter.
The hospital’s director of operations, Jonathan Avery, has called the shooting “an extremely frightening situation”. “We really want to make sure that people don’t come to Good Samaritan today until everything is cleared up and we’re back and open,” she added.
Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler has asked residents on his Twitter account to “be vigilant”, as “this is still an active investigation”. “We urge those in the area to remain vigilant until further notice”
