Crews Battling to Contain Powder Keg Pine Fire in Bastrop County

BASTROP COUNTY, Texas – Crews are tirelessly working to extinguish the Powder Keg Pine Fire that sparked in Bastrop County on August 1. The fire, located near State Highway 71 and Harmon Road, has already engulfed 40 acres of land and is currently 25 percent contained.

The Bastrop County Office of Emergency Management reported that forward progression of the fire has been slowed, thanks to the efforts of the dedicated crews on the scene. However, firefighters are still battling the flames, determined to bring the situation under control.

As a precautionary measure, residents residing between Harmon Road and Pine Hill Loop have been urged to evacuate their homes and find a safe location. The Bastrop County Office of Emergency Management has set up a hotline at 512-303-4300 to assist those affected by the evacuation.

Thankfully, there are no reports of injuries or damages to homes or structures thus far. However, residents remain on high alert as fire operations continue.
