► Russia says it shot down 13 Ukrainian drones near Crimea and Moscow

The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed early Thursday August 10 to have shot down 13 drones, including 11 near Crimea and two heading towards Moscow, after several similar attacks in recent days.

“Two drones flying towards the city of Moscow were destroyed”said the Russian defense on Telegram. “Near the city of Sevastopol (in the annexed peninsula of Crimea, editor’s note), two drones were hit by anti-aircraft defense devices in service, nine others were neutralized by electronic warfare means and crashed into the Black Sea before reaching the target », the ministry added. No casualties or damage were recorded according to the ministry.

At least one person was killed and 52 injured on Wednesday in an explosion at a factory in Sergiev Posad in Russia, a town about 50 km northeast of Moscow, local authorities said.

The explosion occurred in a warehouse of pyrotechnic material. The local administration of Sergiev Posad, a city of nearly 110,000 inhabitants, claimed that “twenty apartment buildings” and at least two schools had been hit by the shock wave.

► Russian strike on Zaporizhia

Two people were killed and seven injured on Wednesday in a Russian strike on Zaporizhia, a large city in southern Ukraine, the interior ministry said, revising the previous toll after the resuscitation of a person downwards.

The previous death toll of three was announced by President Volodymyr Zelensky, who released a video showing a damaged church, with flames and smoke in its courtyard, as well as another building on fire. Interior Minister Igor Klymenko clarified that “rescuers quickly extinguished the fire” and that the injured people were outside at the time of the strike.
