International Youth Day / PAYNCOP and the OIF in support of young legislative and local candidates

The Pan-African Youth Network for the Culture of Peace, Gabon section (PAYNCOP Gabon) offered, thanks to the support of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), logistical support to young people and women candidates for the municipal and legislative.

It was the headquarters of the OIF that served as the setting for this ceremony which preceded the training workshop on political leadership for young people and women which was held for two days (Friday 11 and Saturday 12 August). . The initiative is part of the project to support the political participation of young people and women, which aims to improve their representation in political and decision-making bodies.

Opportunity for PAYNCOP Gabon and the OIF to also celebrate International Youth Day, which is commemorated on August 12 of each year in order to draw the attention of the international community to the problems of youth and to develop their potential in as development partners.

After Oyem and Franceville, Libreville was the last stage of this journey that began a few weeks ago. Around, nearly 500 young people and women have been impacted by this project through several activities, including training in political leadership, intergenerational dialogues, awareness of electoral issues as well as logistical support for candidates, consisting of sound kit laptop and plastic chairs.

According to Jerry Bibang, the Project Coordinator ” The initiative aims to support the political participation of young people and women, in accordance with regional and international commitments as well as national public policies that encourage the participation of young people and women in the management of public affairs. »

For Jovanie Eyengha, legislative candidate in Ndjolé, representative of the beneficiaries, “ this initiative is commendable. From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to thank PAYNCOP and the OIF twice. Firstly because they allowed us to strengthen our capacities on political issues but also for the logistical support that will serve us for the next few days. »

“I leave here with a feeling of satisfaction and with many elements that will allow me to readjust my political strategy in order to ensure a victory at the end of these elections” added Violène Iroungui, young candidate in the municipal elections for the account of the Union for the Republic (UPR) party.

« The OIF is a young organization with nearly 320 million young people. You therefore naturally understand why when it is necessary to support or finance an initiative which concerns young people, the OIF does not hesitate explained Max Axel Mbounda, representative of the boss of the sub-regional office of the OIF.

For her part, on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in particular the Directorate General of La Francophonie (DGF), Mrs. Koundy Mbagou Gina congratulated PAYNCOP Gabon for the development and implementation of this project which is in line with the will of the highest authorities and national public policies, in particular the National Youth Policy, the Gabon Equality Program and the Gabonese Women’s Decade.

After Libreville, PAYNCOP Gabon also plans to deploy logistical support to young and female candidates in Oyem and Franceville.
