Staying in the Unheard-of States of America, Oumar Sylla alias Foniké Menguè took the opportunity to remobilize the troops. The National Coordinator of the National Front for the Defense of the Constitution (FNDC) denounces the “unilateral” management of the transition. He swears to oppose any idea of confiscation of power by Colonel Mamadi Doum-bouillant.

He will have spent more than ten months in detention at the five-star hotel in Coronthie before being released. After a big “battle” at the Cona-cris aero-hangar, Foniké Menguè managed to get out of the territory. Officially, he is abroad for health reasons, but he takes the opportunity to meet with FDNC militants and remobilize the base, in order to face the CNRD. On August 15, in front of Guineans gathered in New York, Foniké Menguè reiterated his desire to fight against the perpetuation of the CNRD in power: “On September 5, the colonel made a memorable speech, he promised that no one will die because of politics, today we have 25 dead. He promised that justice was going to be the compass, but this speech is no longer relevant. Unfortunately, we are still in a fight for the establishment of a true democracy. Colonel Mamadi Doubmouya has the will to confiscate power. They came for a ”refoundation”, but are plundering the country. They are the ones who banned all demonstrations. We won’t let them… That’s why when they wanted to negotiate, we told them that we wouldn’t get out of prison without a trial. If God has planned that we are going to die in prison, it will happen, it does not depend on us… We are not against him, but we are not going to allow him to confiscate power. For us, no sacrifice is too much when it comes to the fatherland”.

The junta, after several political upheavals, dissolved the FDNC. The soldiers accused the leaders of the Front of being behind the violence in Cona-cris and refused any dialogue with them. But for Foniké Menguè, it is the only way out of the political crisis: “Our fight is for the happiness of all Guineans, without exception. We are not against anyone. We were not against Alpha Condé, we were fighting against his desire to confiscate power. We triumphed, the 3rd term was buried on September 5, 2021 thanks to the efforts of pro-democracy activists. But the transition is going in the wrong direction. What we want is the establishment of a real dialogue so that we can discuss”. Will the military junta hear it that way?
