Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi during the summit of the leaders of the BRICS countries proposed to think about creating a consortium of space research.

“We can think about creating a full-fledged consortium for space exploration in areas such as space research and weather monitoring for the benefit of the whole world,” he said (quote according to “RIA Novosti”).

Now the BRICS countries are working on a common constellation of satellites, the Indian leader recalled.

Today, August 23, the Chandrayaan-3 interplanetary station is scheduled to land on the moon, if the mission is successful, then India will become the fourth power in the world to achieve a soft landing on the moon – after the USSR, the USA and China. The Russian station Luna-25, launched on August 11, crashed on August 19, preliminary, due to the fact that its propulsion system, when trying to go into pre-landing orbit, worked for 127 seconds instead of 84.

Earlier in July, Roskosmos proposed to the BRICS countries to create a module as part of a promising Russian orbital station (ROS). As Vedomosti wrote, India is not yet interested in the project. As Shri Nilesh M. Desai, Director of the Space Application Center of the Indian Department of Astronautics in Ahmedabad, said, India is cooperating with Russia in transmitting information on global positioning and remote sensing, in particular, within the framework of the international disaster data exchange system.
