Intel is expected to introduce the 14th-gen Core alongside the first-gen Core Ultra in September, but by now most of the details are known from rumors. For example, that the new Cores, called Raptor Lake refreshment, will have about 200 MHz more frequency and in some cases more E cores. MSI has confirmed this by sharing a hidden video with information from someone on its social media team of this generation.

The video has been removed at this point, but you have a couple of screenshots of the information displayed by MSI. That includes confirmation that the 14700K will have four more E cores, as well as that 14th-gen Cores will typically be around 3% more powerful on average when they keep the core count. That simply comes from the slightly higher frequencies. The 14700K will be 17% more powerful because of the extra cores.

Fortunately this series will be able to be used without problems in the current 600 and 700 series motherboards. It is not planned that there will be a new chipset “Z890” or similar for them.

On the other hand, ASUS has also confirmed on its website the name of this generation of desktop processors, “Raptor Lake Refresh”, on its website. It has done so on the landing page of the microsite dedicated to the latest motherboards unveiled by ASUS at Gamescom, covering the B760, H770 and Z790 chipsets. There are also references in the source code to the 14th generation Core, so there can be little doubt about what they are called and what features they have. The price is the only thing left to know.
