Kiev court extended house arrest to Medvedchuk – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

The Pechersk District Court of Kiev has extended the house arrest of Viktor Medvedchuk, head of the political council of the Ukrainian party Opposition Platform – For Life, by two months. This was announced by his fellow party member Renat Kuzmin.

As he drew attention to his Facebook page, “the judge extended Medvedchuk’s house arrest up to 10 months, despite the fact that according to the law, the maximum term for house arrest cannot exceed 6 months.” According to Kuzmin, the judge who made this decision should have considered Medvedchuk’s case and recused himself, since it was obviously sewn with white thread.

“By the way, the prosecutors of the Prosecutor General’s Office did not appear at this shameful trial, but sent subordinates from the district prosecutor’s office instead. Which is also illegal,” the deputy said.

In his opinion, the judge could have made an illegal decision for two reasons: “because he is the deputy chairman of the court and is afraid of losing his” bread “position, or because his son works in the State Bureau of Investigation, which, by order of Bankova, is fabricating the Medvedchuk case.”

Kuzmin expressed hope that after the change of power, all those involved in the persecution of Medvedchuk will find themselves in the dock.

The head of the political council of the Opposition Platform – For Life party himself believes that all cases of treason against him are falsified and are political persecution.
