London | Fossil of a large aquatic creature called Ictosaurus, which lived 180 million years ago, has been found in Ruthland Reservoir, the largest reservoir in England. The 10-meter-long fossil of the extinct ichthyosaur, similar to the dinosaur known as the ‘Sea Dragon’, has been found.
The fossil was discovered by researchers at the Ruthland Wildlife Trust. Ichthyosaurs were 100 species of marine reptiles. They are estimated to have lived between 250 million and 90 million years ago. Fossils of ectosaurs have already been found in England. But this time it was found in the largest fossil. The researcher said that this was one of the greatest discoveries in the history of British fossil studies. Dean Lomax clarified. The maximum length of this creature is up to 25 meters.
The fossil record was first discovered in February 2021 by Joe Davis of the Ruthland Wildlife Trust. It was initially thought to be a dinosaur fossil. He informed the authorities and a detailed study was carried out. The entire fossil was later identified and the species identified.
