The Challenge between DMK and BJP: Tamil Nadu State President Annamalai Speaks Out

by time news

BJP State President Annamalai spoke at a recent meeting of district leaders and state administrators in Tamil Nadu, shedding light on the party’s plans for the upcoming 2024 elections. Annamalai emphasized that the competition is between the DMK, the ruling party in Tamil Nadu, and the BJP, the ruling party at the center. He stated, “Let’s see it in the 2024 elections.”

The meeting, held at a private hall in Chennai, was attended by prominent BJP leaders including Pon. Radhakrishnan, H. Raja, Vanathi Srinivasan, Kesava Vinayak, and several state vice-presidents. Following the meeting, Annamalai met with the press where he was questioned about the party’s decision on whether to contest the elections alone. He responded by stating that such matters should be discussed privately with party leaders rather than in a press conference.

Highlighting the history of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which was launched in 1998, Annamalai expressed his confidence in the alliance’s ability to secure a significant number of Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu for Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the upcoming elections. He stressed the importance of the BJP’s development and mainstreaming within the NDA.

When asked about the absence of an alliance with AIADMK, Annamalai showed no signs of sadness or disappointment. He asserted that the BJP’s main focus is on strengthening the party and backing Modi’s bid for prime ministerial re-election in 2024.

Responding to allegations of criticizing AIADMK leaders, Annamalai dismissed the accusations, stating that numerous parties in Tamil Nadu were making similar allegations. He asserted that he is focused on his role and the path the BJP should follow, rather than responding to every accusation.

While the breakup of the AIADMK alliance was commented upon, Annamalai emphasized that the party remains unperturbed, as the 2024 election holds great significance for the BJP and its leader, Narendra Modi. He firmly stated that the party is working towards this goal.

In response to questions regarding the BJP’s role in obstructing AIADMK’s victory, Annamalai suggested waiting for the 2024 election results before making any definitive judgments. He pointed out that the BJP’s performance as the third-largest party in local and municipal elections demonstrated its potential, and he believes the election results will favor the BJP and the NDA.

Finally, Annamalai restated that the challenge lies between the DMK and BJP. He clarified that this position has been consistently expressed for the past two years and will be put to the test in the 2024 elections.

With such insights from the BJP State President, it remains to be seen how the political landscape in Tamil Nadu will shape up in the next general elections.
