Near Kanchipuram, people celebrate Pongal in a different way by holding bull statues made of 2 tons of cane.

Senthilkumar, who hails from a farming family living in the village of Keelkathirpur near Kanchipuram, celebrated Pongal in a different way with a 2 ton bundle of red cane near his house so that the younger generation would know the significance of the Tamil Thirunalam Thai Pongal festival and the use of endangered bullocks in the farming industry.

Many villagers left in amazement at the red sorghum bull statues set up to illustrate the specialty of the farmers and the bullocks.

Two Kangayam bulls with about 1,000 canes are designed with natural looking sizes of bulls to make the younger generations aware of the specialty of the native cows, to protect the breed of native cows among the farmers and to create awareness among the Kangayam bulls participating in the heroic game of the Tamils. These cane bulls were designed by a team of five for seven days.

There were about 87 breeds of country cows in India. Currently there are only 35 limited cows. Currently, only Jallikattu Umbalacheri, Kangayam, Pulikkulam Alampadi and Bargur bulls are used. All four of these fruits are proud to have grown dimensionally to suit our climate for hundreds of years.
