Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently visited the mesmerizing Shiva-Parvati temple located on Mount Kailash in Jeolingang Village, Pithoragarh District, Uttarakhand. The Prime Minister offered prayers at the temple and later launched various developmental projects worth Rs.4,200 crore.

The Shiva-Parvati temple is situated at a distance of 50 km from the holy Mount Kailash. Amidst the stunning landscape, Prime Minister Modi worshipped Lord Shiva and Parvati dressed in the local traditional attire and played the uduk. He then sat facing the holy Mount Kailash, meditating and performing pooja for approximately 25 minutes.

In a post on a social networking site, Prime Minister Modi expressed his joy of visiting the Aadi Kailash temple and prayed for the happiness and well-being of all Indian citizens from this spiritually and culturally significant location nestled in the lap of nature.

This historic visit by Prime Minister Modi marks him as the first Indian Prime Minister to set foot on Uttarakhand’s Mount Kailash, a revered site for millions of devotees across the country.

After his visit to the temple, Prime Minister Modi travelled to Kunj from Jyolingang, where he met soldiers stationed at the army camp. Subsequently, he interacted with the local villagers and proceeded to Jokeswar by helicopter. There, he performed a special worship ceremony at the Shiva temple.

Later in the day, Prime Minister Modi attended a function held at the Sports Arena in Pithoragarh, where he launched welfare schemes worth Rs.4,200 crore. Additionally, he laid the foundation stones for several projects aimed at improving infrastructure and lives of the residents. Over 50,000 people participated in the event.

During his address, Prime Minister Modi highlighted India’s exceptional performance at the recent Asian Games, where Indian athletes won more than 100 medals for the first time, including triumphs from Uttarakhand’s own players.

He also emphasized the successful implementation of the One Rank, One Pension Scheme for the Army, with over 75,000 retired soldiers from Uttarakhand benefitting from the scheme. The Central Government has disbursed Rs.70,000 crore towards this initiative thus far.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Modi announced that the state of Uttarakhand will witness significant improvements in road and rail connectivity to foster the rapidly growing tourism sector. Additionally, projects worth Rs.4,000 crore will be undertaken to enhance disaster management capabilities in the state.

Highlighting the government’s focus on border security and development, Prime Minister Modi assured that extensive development initiatives were being carried out to improve facilities and infrastructure in border villages. An allocation of Rs.1,100 crore has been earmarked solely for Uttarakhand’s border area development projects.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Uttarakhand and the launch of these significant projects further signify the government’s commitment to driving development and ensuring the welfare of the people in the region.
