New Delhi: The Union Health Ministry has reported 2,64,202 new cases of Kovid in the last 24 hours in the country. This brings the total number of Kovid victims in the country to 3,65,82,129. This is an increase of 6.7 per cent over the previous day.
The number of Omicron cases in the country rose to 5,753. The daily positivity rate is 14.78. The daily positive rate on Thursday was 13.11 percent. The weekly positivity rate is 11.83. 315 people have died of Kovid infection in the last 24 hours. This brings the total death toll in the country to 485,350. 12,72,073 are in treatment.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has suggested that in addition to tackling the omicron variant of the corona virus, preparations should be made for new variants in the future. The Prime Minister said in a review meeting with the Chief Ministers that cautious steps were needed to tackle the fast-spreading Omicron.
People and governments should not be less vigilant. Modi, however, said that any restrictions should ensure that there is little disruption to the livelihoods of the common man and that emphasis should be placed on purely local controls.
