Scientists from the NASA Ames Research Center studied data obtained by the Kepler telescope and came to the conclusion that at a distance of about 4.6 thousand light years from Earth there is a star with seven planets in orbit. Two of them are similar in structure to the Earth, but are presumably larger and have a thin atmosphere. The remaining five are even larger, although they are smaller in size than Neptune, and their atmosphere is dense.

Most likely, none of the planets are habitable, since each of them receives a huge amount of heat per unit area, scientists say.

To date, astronomers know of few systems in which the number of planets is comparable to the Solar System. Their study will allow us to better understand how cosmic bodies interact with each other.

The work is being prepared for publication in The Journal of Planetary Science, its preprint is posted on the website arXiv.
