The 1976 Olympic Games, held in Montreal (Canada), have gone down in sports history as the “Black Year of Montreal.” After the incidents in Mexico and the tragedy in Munich, the Olympic Committee hoped that the Games would be free of political incidents. However, this hope was quickly dashed when 22 nations boycotted New Zealand’s participation in the competition.
