TF1 will broadcast at the beginning of the afternoon, after its 1 p.m. news, the series More beautiful life, taken over from the competing channel France 3 after more than a year of shutdown, the group’s CEO announced on Sunday. Rodolphe Belmer was questioned par Le Figaro on this series of which new episodes are being filmed.

On January 8, “the popular soap opera More beautiful life will make its big return to the air, just after 1 p.m. and its 4 million viewers”, explained the leader of the leading French television group. He clarified that this time slot was chosen because the viewers had the same profile. “The target is affinity”, in the words of Mr. Belmer. It is also on this day that the channel’s new morning show, presented by journalist Bruce Toussaint, will be launched.

More beautiful lifewhich tells the adventures of multiple characters in a picturesque district of Marseille, started in 2004. It has become the longest-running series in the history of French television, with its 4,665 episodes until November 2022, broadcast at the same time as the 8 p.m. news on TF1 and France 2. This program reached audience peaks of 6 million viewers in 2008, ending up with around 2.5 million followers.

The series was mourned by the deaths of two of its actors this year. In May, Michel Cordes, 77 years old, present since the first episode, probably committed suicide. And in October, Marwan Berreni, 34, was found hanged after having disappeared for two months.

Mr. Belmer indicated that TF1 was launching, also on January 8, its free platform TF1 +, which should ultimately replace MyTF1. The difference will be to allow viewing of older programs, up to the last four years. Another innovation will be to offer program summaries of the duration desired by the viewer.
