The Femme Lève-Toi Network and its fight for the dignity and honor of women

November 13, 2023

Fighting for the fundamental freedoms of women, (re)giving them the place that rightfully belongs to them, improving their participation at the heart of decision-making bodies, are among other battles led by the Réseau Femme Lève-Toi (ReFLeT). The said Network organized a multi-actor annual review workshop on November 9, 2023 in Libreville.

Many of them came to take part in the multi-actor annual review workshop initiated by the Femme Lève-Toi Network (ReFLeT). The aim of this action, according to Nathalie Zemo Efoua, President of the Network, “ is to have a more egalitarian Gabonese society and more effective political participation “. Also, she explains, that this meeting is a point after a year of activities. She adds that the project brings together around fifteen political parties, six associations and a good number of religious movements.

Regarding the advent of last August 30, the President of the NGO Réseau Femme Lève-Toi greeted the Transition Committee for the Restoration of Institutions (CTRI) and affirmed her gratitude to the head of the State, Brigadier General, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema for his appointment as Advisor to him. A great honor for her to serve the country alongside the army, which for her has: “ gave hope to the Gabonese people, hope of reconstruction, hope of advancing democracy again, hope for women to be better represented in decision-making spheres ».

Present to encourage and support Gabonese women in this noble struggle, the European Union and Unoca join forces to call on them to combine their common efforts. On behalf of Unoca, its Representative reassures about the support of the UN institution. “ We started it together, we will continue it together. When it comes to a process of dialogue, of negotiation, the woman seems forgotten. Women must fight to be at the negotiating table, in dialogue for lasting peace. The woman can fully play her role » a rassuré Léocadie Nashishakiye.

The European Union affirms its support for women, as everywhere else. Its Representative, Sonia Mileu-Churra, like that of Unoca, calls on women to unity. ” We have this capacity for effective development. You have to put action on self-confidence. The woman has great capacity. We must work on the expression of knowledge, the sharing of knowledge, cultivate ourselves, become aware of the potential we have” she says.

Also, Nathalie Zemo Efoua, appointed Advisor to the President of the Transition, asks women to make their contribution to the success of this Transition.
