The Edakulam St. Sebastian’s Idavakade has seen a momentous occasion with the re-consecration of the circle after undergoing renovations. The ceremonies were led by Bishop Mar Polly Kannukkadan, who took center stage for the re-consecration and the Divine Sacrifice.
Speaking on the significance of the renovation, Mar Kannukkadan emphasized the message of unity that is conveyed through the revitalization of the temple. The Edakulam Parish, which consists of 141 households, underwent a 270-day renovation process, showcasing a display of solidarity and unity within the community.
The rector of St. Paul Minor Seminary, Fr. Varghese Palathinkal, along with other co-workers including Fr. Kiran Thatla, Fr. Benoy Cemetery, Fr. Ignatius Chittilappilly, and Fr. Sherens Ilamturutthi, played pivotal roles in the renovation.
The public conference held after the Divine Sacrifice was presided over by Bishop Mar Polly Kannooka, where the laying of foundation stones for the new buildings was announced. Vicar General Mon. Jose Maliekal and Vicar Fr. George Palamtam were also part of the introductory speeches at the conference.
Special recognition was given to Fr. Davis, the Vicar of Kalparum Forona, for his contributions. Additionally, various individuals such as the General Convenor U.K. Davies Ooken, Mason and Construction Convenor Handyman Babu G. Ookan, U.M. Jose, Dr. Mathew Paul Ooken, and Architect Santosh John Ennivar were acknowledged for their support.
In addition to the ceremonial events, there were also activities to help the community, such as the distribution of insulin pumps for diabetic patients, distribution of food, and the transfer of funds for the Silchar Mission.
